About HitoCast

Every story has a beginning. Here is ours.

A few years ago, I was watching a documentary about salt.

It sounded boring. But within five minutes, I was hooked. Salt built empires. Salt started wars. Salt paid soldiers — that is where the word salary comes from.

That night, I could not sleep. Not because of the salt. Because of the storytelling.

I thought about every English learner I had ever met. Every student who tried to study with vocabulary lists, with grammar drills, with apps that promised “fluency in 30 days.”

And I thought: what if we did this differently?

What if we taught English the way that documentary taught me about salt?

That is how HitoCast began.

What we do

HitoCast tells the stories of the things that changed the world — food, inventions, people, empires — in clear English for learners at A2 to B2 level.

Each story is short enough to finish in one sitting. Slow enough to follow. Rich enough to remember.

This blog is where every story lives in full. The script. The vocabulary. The deeper history we could not fit into a video.

What we believe

We believe stories teach better than rules. We believe slow English is powerful English. We believe history is not dates. History is people.

We believe you deserve content that respects your time and your intelligence.

A simple promise

We will never use words that are too complicated. We will never make videos longer than they need to be. We will never tell a story we do not believe in.

If you give us your time, we will give you our best work.

Watch. Read. Learn. One story at a time.
